Mass Communication Department to Partner with UCJ Unimaid on Ethical Practice

The Head of Mass Communication Department, University of Maiduguri (Unimaid), Dr. Abdulmutalib Ado Abubakar has on 16th October 2023 expressed commitment to support UCJ Unimaid through the provision of resource persons and technical assistance, especially in the realm of ethical journalism. 

"I will relay UCJ's requests to the department's board for further consideration."

He encouraged UCJ members to make the most of opportunities while maintaining a realistic approach to planning, meticulous documentation of UCJ activities for accountability, and ensuring that academic commitments and other engagements were not adversely affected 

Dr Ado recommends that UCJ to bolster its social media pages and as well secure airtime on Kanem FM (97.7) to enhance its public outreach and engagement. 

The HOD  applauds the dedication and efforts of UCJ members, especially those from non-journalism/communication departments who were actively involved, and affirmed that his doors are always open for the union's inquiries and requests.

President of UCJ, Rukaiyatu Idris who led the delegation emphasized the need for Mass Communication Department to provide mentorship and capacity-building training.

In his remarks, the UCJ Public Relations Officer, Abednago Yusuf, appreciated the HOD for assuring his support to the union.

The courtesy visit concluded with a group photograph, marking the end of the productive meeting.
